VALORANT's Setting

VALORANT is set in a near future-world where characters from around the world, known as agents, have special abilities they gained after being exposed to an element called Radianite. In the VALORANT world, Radiante appeared on Earth after an event referred to as The First Light. Learn more about VALORANT’s Lore.

How The Game Is Played

In VALORANT, you and your teammates each select an agent unique from each other. Each agent has a unique set of abilities and plays a particular role in the team composition based on their “class”. These agent classes are Controller, Sentinel, Initiator, and Duelist.

It is a 5v5 match and your team is randomly assigned to start on attack or defense. The game is played in a best-of-24-round format, with each team swapping attack/defense at the half.

On the attacking side, the goal is to plant a spike (bomb) at one of the designated sites on the map and not let the enemy defuse it before time runs out, or eliminate all members of the opposing team before time runs out. On the defensive side, the goal is to prevent the spike from being planted, defuse the spike before time runs out, or eliminate all members of the attacking team before time runs out.

You and your team must coordinate your abilities and out maneuver the enemy team. This requires communication, teamwork, and strategy, as you must plan your approach and use your team’s agent’s abilities effectively to gain the upper hand.

The game also features a unique economy system, where you earn money throughout the round that can be used to purchase weapons, abilities, and shields. At the beginning of each round, you get to purchase your weapons and abilities with the credits that you have. Each weapon and ability has its own stats and capabilities. This adds an additional layer of strategy to the game, as you must carefully manage their resources and make strategic purchases to gain an advantage.

Game Modes

VALORANT can be played competitively or casually and has several game modes. Many users will say the other game modes are just for training / practicing for the competitive modes.

How Much Does VALORANT Cost?

VALORANT is free-to-play! No gimmicks, it’s a completely free game and there are no aspects that makes it pay-to-play. You are not at a disadvantage if you never spend a dime, compared to someone else who has spent money on the game.

There are options to buy gun skins, and other purely decorative items, but the purchases are only for vanity and do not change stats in anyway.

Although, you can’t tell us you don’t shoot better with an “Oni” Phantom than a Standard one.
